Counselor's Corner
Welcome to the Counselor’s Corner! My name is Ms. Claire Threatt and I have the honor of working at Northeast Lauderdale High School as the High School Counselor. I am a proud graduate of Northeast High, Class of 1994, where I spent all 13 years from K through 12th. It is such a privilege to serve and minister the students of the very district that invested in my life and education. I graduated from Mississippi State University with a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education, and immediately began working at Northeast Elementary as a 2nd grade teacher. In 2000 I had the chance to move to Texas, enrolling at Dallas Baptist University to work on my Master of Education in School Counseling. I gained experience in elementary, special education, and middle school counseling while in Texas. Although I loved my time in the Dallas area, I moved back to Mississippi and began my high school counseling experience working at Choctaw Central High School in 2014. As much as I have loved all developmental levels, high school is by far my favorite! Adolescence is a challenging and rewarding experience – a time of life that shapes the future – and it’s my responsibility to help guide all students in the right direction whether that be college/career readiness or life/coping skills. It is not a responsibility that I take lightly. Please do not hesitate to contact me by email or phone if there’s any way I can assist you!
