About The School
Northeast High School is one of four county high schools in the Lauderdale County School District. The current enrollment is approximately 600 students in grades 9-12. The Mississippi Department of Education defines Northeast as a successful school. In addition, the graduation rates have continued to show growth, and the average ACT score is 18.6, which is above the state average.
NEHS offers Advanced Placement courses in English III, English IV, Chemistry, Physics, American History, Biology, ,Calculus, Art, and Computer Science. In addition, Northeast students have the option to participate in dual enrollment/credit classes through Meridian Community College. This opportunity gives qualifying students a chance to earn college credit for classes while in high school at a discounted rate.
NEHS also offers several vocational programs, including construction trades, early childcare (including an onsite childcare center for 3 & 4 year old preschoolers), allied health, and business. All of these include vocational organizations, including HOSA, FBLA, and FCCLA which compete in both local and national competitions. The Northeast NJROTC (Naval Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps) is a high-performing unit and is the only ROTC program offered in the Lauderdale County School District. The program is ranked 4th in the state of Mississippi and 16th in the Southeastern region.
NEHS clubs and organizations include a nationally registered chapter of the Beta Club, Young Politicians of America, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Science Club, Trojan Book Club, Junior Civitans Club, Student Council, National Art Honors Society, and more.
